Singer-songwriter Isabella Dussias introduces her new single, “Honest,” a luscious folk-laced song exploring heartbreak and vulnerability in the face of manipulation.

Talking about the track, Dussias shares, “I really enjoy pulling from my background as a composer in writing for strings and some more typical orchestral instruments, and I think I definitely tapped into that in the production of this track.”

She adds, “I hope this song can provide some kind of catharsis to whoever may be experiencing a similar, frustrating situation.”

“Honest” narrates the emotional confusion of being in a relationship with someone who refuses to commit yet is unable to refrain from exposing feelings of deep affection. “Too honest,” a phrase in the lyrics, underlines the sensation of becoming so sensitive to manipulation that you begin playacting, which indicates the manipulator has succeeded.

Only twenty years old, Dussias’ indie-pop sound reflects elements of folk, rock, and orchestral music. She enjoys the entire gamut of musical creation: writing, producing and performing. Multifaceted, along with writing and performing her music, she also composes for film and musical theatre.

“Honest” opens on soft, gleaming tones from ukulele, violin, and harp, topped by Dussias’ delicate vocals, imbuing the lyrics with hesitation and susceptibility. The song slowly builds, embracing feelings of frustration, accentuated by the entry of percussion, electric guitar, and piano. As the tune culminates, Dussias’ voice reveals urgent emotional passion.

“Honest” features an alluring indie-pop melody shaded with folk flavors, capped by the deliciously attractive voice of Isabella Dussias.
