Described as a “hell-bent, theatrical indie rocker” by What’s Protocal and her music as “indie pop-rock meets jazzy show tunes” by AltSounds, Brooklyn based singer/songwriter and guitarist Hannah Fairchild is set to release a new EP titled Ghost Stories with her band Hannah VS The Many on Nov. 12.

The band is led by Hannah and is joined by Josh Fox on lead guitar and Daniel Muhlenbeg on drums. The five song EP contains a single titled “Poor Leander” and is described as a “wistful hoedown into a sneering psychobilly kiss off, played at three times its original tempo.” The son   “Nicollet” was “originally styled after Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne,” but now takes a turn towards Motown.”

According to a recent press release, Hannah’s lyrics are rooted in her musical theater background, with acerbic, rapid-fire observations that reflect her childhood obsession with Stephen Sondheim. The songs tell stories of heartbreak, hook-ups, drunken victories, narrow escapes, and all the other “pretty little tragedies” that come with being young and broke. Musically, she bends genres at will, blending influences from Kate Bush to The Replacements to Leslie Gore.

Previous albums by the band include Paper Kingdoms (2010) and All Our Heroes Drank Here (2012.
