SPACE, the renowned music venue just minutes north of Chicago, celebrates 10 years of live music with Out of Space, a full summer of outdoor concerts, from June 21–Aug. 26, in some of the most beloved locations in the City of Evanston.

SPACE is so excited to welcome Grammy-winning duo Indigo Girls to perform a very special “Out of Space” concert at Canal Shores on July 28. The group, comprised of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, recently released their 14th studio album, One Lost Day, which The Independent (UK) called “a set of uncommonly strong songs performed with the kind of typically understated Nashville polish that affords their signature harmonies the full spotlight.” Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.via evanstonspace.com and spacepresents.com.

Among the other new additions to the summer concerts are Columbus, Ohio, alt-country singer Lydia Loveless (supporting Indigo Girls); Philly psych-rockers Purling Hiss (supporting a sold-out Dinosaur Jr. concert at Temperance Beer Co. on July 19); Nashville singer-songwriter Becca Mancari (with Shovels & Rope at Temperance on June 21); Nashville psych-folk band Skyway Man (supporting The Lone Bellow at Temperance on July 20); and funk-rockers New Orleans Suspects(with Rebirth Brass Band at Temperance on June 23).

Often recognized on the best venue lists of 93XRT, DownBeat and Chicago Tribune, SPACE is part of the 16” on Center development company, which oversees operations of more than 15 restaurants and venues, including Thalia Hall in Pilsen and The Empty Bottle in the Ukrainian Village. SPACE has presented acts ranging from Dr. JohnLucinda Williams and Bob Mould to Alabama ShakesThe Lumineers and Sturgill Simpson.

“The acts we’re presenting this summer all have roots at SPACE whether they know it or not,” says Jake Samuels, Talent Buyer for SPACE and Thalia Hall, who also serves as Out of Space’s Executive Director. “Either they played the club in their early days or were highly influential to the music we love and present regularly.”

SPACE has also set the date June 1 for the lineup announcement for the inaugural Big Evanston Block Party. The music-centric block party, which will take place on Aug. 25–26 at the intersection of Chicago and Dempster, will feature food trucks, beer from Half Acre and live performances from returning SPACE favorites and nationally touring bands.
